Cigarette Hopes And Caffeine Dreams

I would probably use this title for FOB`s new song, "What A Catch, Donnie".

Or i`ll bet that the title would have also worked for "Golden", as well.

They are two of my absolute favorites of theirs!

The title is all about being "burned out", which, unfortunately, i`m sure is always the side-effect of being a mega-star..And I know that Pete always talks about the paparazzi bothering him whenever he goes to Starbucks, and people thinking that that`s all he does, so what could be more perfect?

Just a little poem I created, using song titles....

Sometimes

Something

Makes Me Wonder

Who I Am

What I`ve Done

In My Life

In Your Eyes

I Don`t Want To Be

Just A Girl

Jaded

Torn

I Am, I Said

Somebody

Beautiful

If You Could Only See....

"And all of the mothers raise their babies, to stay away from me...."

I`m trying to come to terms with who I am,
And I know that there are things that
Simply can`t be changed, no matter how hard I try.
But I feel like there will always be that little voice inside
My head that tells me i`m never going to be quite good enough.

Like i`ll always be just someone, instead of SOMEBODY.

I try to ignore it,
But sometimes, that voice is so loud,
That I just can`t hear anything else.

And most of the time, I actually find myself foolish enough to believe it.

I want so badly, and have waited for so long,
For that day where I can finally say these days are gone,
And that I can finally value myself just as much as anybody else,
Yet here I sit upon a shelf,
Waiting for my day to come,
When I can finally be someone,
More than just a nameless face,
A speck somewhere in outer space
A day where, at last, I am finally free
From my own worst enemy. "

One time only offer!!!

Hey, Guys!

I know that this may seem a bit radom (that`s just how I work! *lol*)...

But seeing as how music sales have, unfortuntately, been plunging rapidly over the past decade due to illegal downloads, and given the insanely high price of CD`s for those who might not be able to afford it, I thought that I would help things out, even if it is just in the smallest way.

Long story short, I would love to send along a copy of Fall Out Boy`s new album, Folie A Deux, in all its glory, to the first person willing to message me with their name and mailing address, so that it can be in your mailbox on Election day!

No catches. No gimmicks. No waiting.

Seem interesting?

Please don`t be shy! Drop me a line!

My VMA Predictions

Hey, guys! :-)

Now, what I think is probably not that important when it comes to who wins awards,

so you are more than welcome to just hit the "back" button right now,

but in honor of one of my favorite events of the year , I thought that I would kill some time and rattle off a few feeble prediction as to who will be taking home a moonman tomorrow night at the VMA`S.

Here goes nothin`!

Best New Artist

-Miley Cyrus

-Katy Perry

*Jordin Sparks-Winner*

-Taylor Swift

-Tokio Hotel

Personally, I have asolutely nothing against any of these nominees,

but Jordin has definitely come an insanely long way since she won a little show called American Idol,

and it certainly didn`t hurt that she had a monstrous hit alongside Chris Brown, one of the biggest names in music today. Besides, how could you not root for the girl who was so moved by her nomination that she broke down and cried on national t.v?

Second choice: Katy Perry

Best Rock Video

-Fall Out Boy, "Beat It"

-Foo Fighters, "The Pretender"

-Linkin Park, "Shadow Of The Day"

*Paramore, "CrushCrushCrush"- Winner*

-Slipknot, "Psychosocial"

I`ll admit: I am, and always will be, a rock girl at heart, so this is always one of the most important categories to me, and I have never had a tougher time choosing a favorite in my life, since I really do admire all of these bands...

But even though I would give just about anything to see Fall Out Boy, whom, if anybody knows me at all, knows I love them to death, take home another award this year, I feel like they still have many more awards to come after they finally release their new album...And there is no question that you HAVE to give it up to Paramore for a hot song, a hot video, and one amazing year!

Second choice: Fall Out Boy!

Best Dancing In A Video

-Chris Brown, "Forever"

-Danity Kane, "Damaged"

-Madonna & Justin Timberlake, "4 Minutes"

-Ne-Yo, "Closer"

*Pussycat Dolls, "When I Grow Up"- Winner*

This is an excruciatingly close race, with some of the hottest artists and songs in the world,

so what`s a girl to do?

Put her bet on the group who already has plenty of experience winning in this category!

Second choice: Chris Brown / Madonna

Best Pop Video

-Danity Kane, "Damaged"

*Jonas Brothers, "Burnin` Up"-Winner*

-Panic At The Disco, "Nine In The Afternoon"

-Britney Spears, "Piece Of Me"

-Tokio Hotel, "Ready, Set, Go!"

Note to the boys in Panic: I love you...But unfortunately, the screaming teenage girls have already spoken....

Second Choice: Britney Spears

Best Female Video

-Mariah Carey, "Touch My Body"

*Katy Perry, "I Kissed A Girl"-Winner*

-Rihanna, "Take A Bow"

-Jordin Sparks, "No Air"

-Britney Spears, "Piece Of Me"

Once again, these are five ladies who have pretty much owned the years thus far,

but I would definitely never doubt the power of Katy`s inescapably quirky pop smash!

Second Choice: Rihanna

Best Male Video

*Chris Brown, "With You"- Winner*

-Flo Rida, "Low"

-Lil` Wayne, "Lollipop"

-T.I, "No Matter What"

-Usher, "Love In This Club"

When Chris Brown is involved, ESPECIALLY after last year`s VMA`s, I have a feeling that nobody else really stands a chance...

Second Choice: Lil` Wayne

Best Hip-Hop Video

-Mary J. Blige, "Just Fine"

-Lupe Fiasco, "Superstar"

-Flo Rida, "Low"

*Lil` Wayne, "Lollipop"-Winner*

-Kanye West, "Homecoming"

Personally, I absolutely adore Lupe Fiasco`s intelligence when it comes to his subject matter,

and come on: You`ve got to give it up to the one and only Kanye for basically being the king of hip-hop right now,

but Weezy is the king of the charts, and THAT, my friends, is what makes the difference!

Second Choice: Lupe Fiasco

Annnnnnd last, but not least, we come to:

Video Of The Year

-Chris Brown, "Forever"

-Jonas Brothers, "Burnin` Up"

-Pussycat Dolls, "When I Grow Up"

*Britney Spears, "Piece Of Me"-Winner*

-The Ting-Tings, "Shut Up And Let Me Go"

There is no question that the story of Britney Spears is probably one of the most compelling,

twisted, and tragic of all time, as well as being a major testament to just how crazy fame can be,

but she has proven that she has what it takes to rise again from the ashes,

and after being snubbed by the moonman no less than 18 times, it is definitely time to see her go full circle, to finally get the ultimate redemption that she so badly deserves.

Go Brit!

Second Choice: Jonas Brothers

I knwo that i`m probably going to be proven horribly wrong come tomorrow night @ 8:00 CST,

but "that`s my story, and i`m stickin` to it!

Th-Th-Th-Th-Th-Th....That`s all folks! And thank you for reading! :-)

"I Don`t Care" Lyrics

I am soo in love with this song!

 Enjoy! :-)

I Dont Care by Fall Out Boy

Lyrics:
Say my name, and his in the same breath, I
Dare you to say they taste the same,
Let the leaves fall off in the summer
And let December glow feel flames

Brace myself and let go,
Start it over again in Mexico
These friends, they don't love you
They just love the hotel suites, now

I don't care what you think
As long as it's about me
The best of us can find happiness
In misery

Oh, take a chance, let your body get a tolerance,
I'm not a chance, but a heat wave in your pants
Pull a breath like another cigarette,
Palms up, I'm trading 'em (trading 'em)

I'm the oracle in my chest,
Let the guitar scream like a fascist,
Sweat it out, shut your mouth,
Free love on the streets, but
In the alley and I ain't that cheap, now

I don't care what you think,
As long as it's about me
The best of us can find happiness
In misery

I don't care what you think,
As long as it's about me
The best of us can find happiness
In misery

Said-a, I don't care just a-what you think,
As long as it's about me, you said-a
I don't care just what you think,
As long as it's about me, you said-a
I don't care (I don't care)
You said I don't care (I don't care)
Said I don't care,
I don't care
I don't care (I don't care), I said-a
I don't care

I don't care what you think,
As long as it's about me
The best of us can find happiness
In misery

I don't care what you think,
As long as it's about me
The best of us can find happiness
In misery

The ONE Thing I Hate About Being An Emo Fan...

O.k

First of all, I must beg you: Please don`t hurl anything at me just yet for the title of this post! 0_0

You`ll probably think i`m nuts, or overly angry, but I just have get something off my chest that`s been there for a loong time,

and I won`t knock you at all if you hit the "Back" button right now.

(*Deep Breath*)

Here goes nothin!

I love all sorts of music, and while I don`t wear a lot of black, own very few hoodies, and don`t wear eyeliner,

I still , obviously, adore a lot of bands that are classified as "Emo.

My Chemical Romance, Panic At The Disco, and Fall Out Boy, in fact, rank amongst my favorite bands, and are right next to Nirvana and Metallica (as well as plenty of Pop, hip-hop, country, and blues artists) on my playlist...But the one thing that seems to set MCR and FOB, among others, apart from those other artists, and the one thing that makes me see red, is the amount of ungarnered hatred thrown at them by non-fans.

If you don`t get what I mean, please just check out the comments on this site, and see how people reacted

to the upcoming Cure remix EP.

Or if you need more proof, just look in the comments of any emo-related video on Youtube, and you`re bound to see at least one hateful comment like "OMG, these guys r so GAY!" or "They should die!"

Even their fans are constantly ridiculed for no apparent reason at all...which often makes me wonder:

WHY?!!!!

Just thinking about it makes me sick sometimes!

Last time I checked, this was still a free music biz, and people are still allowed to play what they want to,so why needlessly tear apart a band. or a fan, who is really no different then you, just because you don`t agree with their taste in music?

Oh: and what`s with the "Emo" label, in the first place?

All music (or good music, anyway) should contain emotion, or evoke an emotion from the people listening to it,

so technically, isn`t all music Emo?

(*Siiiiiiiiigh*)

I could probably rant on forever, and still not understand it at all....

July 13, 2008

I just got some of the worst news ever today. :-(

I shouldn`t bore you with the details,

and I wouldn`t want to be a total bummer by being too melodramatic,

but my Dad just say me down a couple of hours ago and said that he had cancer,

and may have less than a year to live.

(*Sniff!*)

I don`t know what to think.

I just thought i`d write it down somewhere, to get it off my chest.....

My Favorite Music Videos of All Time.

Just like everybody else of my generation, music videos are as big a part of my life as breathing.

They`ve made me laugh and cry, or just simply raise my eyebrow and wonder "what in the world are they thinking?"

and to that, I owe music a great debt. And a big ole` post dedicated to my faves! ;-)

Here, in no particular order are, in my humble thinking, some of the videos I keep going to again and again....

Enjoy!

#1: Queen- Bohemian Rhapsody

As a girl who is all about drama, Queen is about as dramatic as it gets, and though this video is simple,

it still manages to showcase every bit of the power behind this legendary rock-opera of a ballad, and shows just why Queen is one of the greatest bands of all time.

#2: Ludo- Love Me Dead

Plainly, and simply, everything I love wrapped up in to one extremely catchy, full on tim-burton style  macabre package

#3: Aerosmith- Janie`s Got A Gun

This is one of the first music videos I ever remember seeing on MTV, and the powerful little Soap Opera that this epic song is wrapped up in delivers a strong, emotional message that you just can`t help but get wrapped up in yourself.

#4: 3 Doors Down- Kryptonite

Not only does tis video have flat-out beautiful imagery of the band as they perform, but come on: you`ve got to love the poor man in his super-hero costume!

#5: Outkast- The Whole World

Some of my favorite rappers, going all "Panic At The Disco" on us in the hottest way possible...And you can ever sing along!

#6: Fall Out Boy: A Little Less Sixteen Candles...

Patrick narrating...Pete as a vamp...and Andy and Joe kicking some major vampire butt. What more could you want?

#7: Rhianna: Umbrella

And here we thought that umbrellas were just meant for keeping us dry! ;-P

#8: Coldplay: Violet Hill

Frankly, I have no CLUE about what this vid is supposed to mean..But who cares?

#9: Michael Jackson: Thriller

Honestly: Do you really think i`d have a list like this without THE biggest music vid of all time? ;-)

Aaaand...

#10: Backstreet Boys: The Call

I admit it: I am a child of the "Boy-Band" era, and as one of the fangirls who would be glued to the t.v every time this vid came on, it has always been close to my heart. So sue me!

I`m sure that there are PLENTY of other videos that I wish I could have put on this list, and I really do wish that I had the time to give love to all of them...But if there are any that you guys think I forgot, please tell me!

Just For Fun: Things I`ve Learned From Fall Out Boy

  • When riding in a Go-Kart, helmets are a must.
  • Don`t mess with the monkeys...Especially if they are directing your music video.
  • Any time is the right time to wear a fedora.
  • Keep your friends close, and your skateboarding bulldog closer.
  • Hip-Hop is a rock star`s best friend.
  • Eyeliner is always the perfect accessory, for women and men.
  • Just say "Yes!" to ink!
  • Afros=Hotness! (On the right people, of course)

Aaand last, but not least:

  • Sometimes, when you get one amazing singer, one rockin` guitar player, one fantastic bass player, and one sick drummer, you get quite possibly the biggest phenomenon on the planet! ;-)

A Moment Of (*SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!*) :-D

Wow.

Wow.

WOW!!! 0_0

(*Happy Dance*)

Ummmmmmmmmmm.....

Now that I have made a complete, total IDIOT of myself (*lol*), I should probably explain why, huh?

I log in this morning...And lo and behold, my jaw dropped to the floor to find that the newest FOB news feature is a poll.

A poll that was created by me, of all people!

I know that it`s not all that amazing of an event, or anything...But it is amazing to know that people actually care that much about what you do.

I do kinda wish I could see the inscription they out before you click the link...But that`s ok. The pic they have to go with it is still fantastic, and what an honor!

Thank you soo, so much, you guys. You rock!!! :-D

And be sure to watch out for plenty more polls in the future, too!

When Worlds Collide: Collaborations I would LOVE to see!

I an industry full of amazing musicians, it`s only natural that fantastic collaborations happen every day,

and though one band is always a sight to see, two bands together make things all the sweeter!

Now, i`m not trying to be nosy or anything (*cough!*)...But, just as a little nudge in the right direction,

I thought that I would put together a list of potential matchups that I think would be nothing short of amazing:

Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance: It is very clear that these two bands have already been friends for a loong time, and just happen to be two of the most major acts out there right now, so to see them together would be nothing short of epic...And besides, since they are musically so different, they could only bring out the best in each other!

Panic At The Disco and Cobra Starship: Not only are they under the same label..But both bands definitely know how to put on a show with their music; could you even IMAGINE what the video would be like?

Flyleaf and Paramore: The ultimate statement in raw girl-power, baby!

Gym Class Heroes  and Linkin Park: True, they do have completely opposite styles...But what they DO share, is the rare feature of a rapper as the head of a band. I think that Mike Shinoda and Mr. "Travie" McCoy would make some pretty slick rhymes together, don`t you?

Aaaand lats, but not least:

3 Doors Down and Nickelback: These two band are compared to each other so often, and share such a similiar musical style, that i`m actually surprised that they haven`t gotten together before..But man, would it be somethign to hear!

Have any thoughts of your own? I`d love to hear them!

Be warned, though: Unnecessary trashing of any of these bands is prohibited!

Sweet Article: Gabe Saporta Talks about Fall Out Boy and Viva La Cobra!

ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT

Cobra Starship decides to roll with the punches

By CHRIS JORDAN
Gannett New Jersey

Never a dull moment.

Gabe Saporta and his mates in Cobra Starship lead rock music in the number of off-beat headlines produced. One moment there's a keytar controversy in the band, and the next there's Saporta reportedly kissing a guy or two on the Web.

"I love that - - - -," said Saporta, formerly of Springfield, of the notoriety. "My primary purpose for doing this band is to entertain myself and my sense of humor is sometimes really (blanked) up. But I got to laugh and especially I love laughing at myself, so I invite everyone to laugh at me and with me."

He invites everyone to groove with him, too. It's a neon and boa musical world that the Starship orbits. The band's sophomore effort, "Viva La Cobra," features the disco funk of the track "Angie," a flamenco flavored romp called "Smile for the Paparazzi;" an '80s freestyle flow in "Kiss My Sass" and an alt-rock charge on "One Day, Robots Will Cry." If anything, "Viva" takes a turn further into the dance-synth zone that the band's debut, "While the City Sleeps, We Rule the Streets," only hinted at.

"This record is the kind of record I wanted to make on the first record, and I just didn't know how or couldn't because I wasn't allowed," Saporta said. "With ("The Ballad of Big Poppa and) Diamond Girl' (from the first record), the first time I did that song it had no guitars at all. (They said) "you just came from a band named Midtown and they had huge guitars and you're not going to have guitars in that song? You're crazy!' By the time we did this record we could do whatever the (blank) we wanted and we did what we wanted."

Midtown. The New Brunswick-based emo-stalwarts were part of the late '90s Jersey class of post-hardcore acts, along with Thursday of New Brunswick and Saves the Day of Princeton, that helped define a generation. By the mid '00s, Midtown had seemingly run its course and Saporta, a Uragauy native who was raised partly in Springfield, was looking at the scene around him.

A tour that had Midtown opening for Fall Out Boy was a head turner for Saporta.

"I was at a point where I was very serious about everything, and everything was very dark for me," Saporta said. "Then I saw Fall Out Boy, and they were punk-rock kids just having a good time; they didn't give a — - - - . I just learned a lot from that attitude. Not everything's going to be perfect, not everything's going to be the exact way you dreamed it up, but if you can accept that and have fun with it, this is a great thing to be involved with. Music is awesome — I let go of my expectations and it just all came to me."

Saporta eventually posted the track "Hollaback Boy," a response to Gwen Stefani's "Hollaback Girl," on his MySpace page, to much buzz. In a few months, in 2006, he was signed to Fall Out Boy Pete Wentz's Decaydance Records and Saporta had the song "Bring It" — featuring guest appearances from Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes, William Beckett of The Academy Is . . ., and Maja Ivarsson of The Sounds — on the soundtrack of the infamous "Snakes on a Plane" movie soundtrack.

The fun hasn't stopped since. Now the band is playing Sunday at this year's Bamboozle Festival in the parking lot at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford. Jimmy Eat World, Paramore, Snoop Dogg, Armor For Sleep, Fiction Plane, The Rocket Summer, The Devil Wears Prada, Cute Is What We Aim For, Metro Station, Mindless Self Indulgence, Saves The Day, Streetlight Manifesto, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, DJ Prime, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Less Than Jake, MXPX, The Bravery are performing on Saturday.

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Coheed and Cambria, Every Time I Die, Onerepublic, Street Dogs, Circa Survice, Anti-Flag, Finch, I Am The Avalanche, Inspecter 7, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Senses Fail, The Academy Is. . ., The Bouncing Souls, Panic At The Disco, Motion City Soundtrack, The Hush Sound, Phantom Planet, Gym Class Heroes, and Bret Michaels are featured on Sunday.

In all, there are more than 100 bands on 10 stages, plus the Vendor Village, the Acoustic Coffee Shop, the Bamboozle TV Studios, The Music Express and the Pass The Mic Comedy Stage adding to the fun.

Preceding the official kick-off today, the mysterious Hoodwink Festival takes place in the parking lot, with about 20 bands playing under fake names. A somewhat reliable source has told us, with a wink, that Jack's Mannequin, Chiodos, Metro Station and Say Anything, are among the 20 or so bands in the Hoodwink.

As for Cobra Starship, the Saporta same-sex kissing pics on the 'Net aren't conclusive. On keytar these days is Victoria Asher, the daughter of Peter Asher of Peter and Gordon fame. Asher replaced Elisa Schwartz of Old Bridge since the last record. Schwartz made a splash last month when she told MTV.com about her new single, on "Nymphomaniac."

Like we said, never a dull moment.

"I'm grateful, more than anything, because I've been here so many times or close to here, so when things are going really well, something - - - - - up happens," Saporta said. "I think my attitude changed. I'm just more accepting of the good and the bad so if bad things happen I just roll with it. I roll with the punches and I give it my all without any preconceptions or expectations."

I`m sorry, guys...But I just couldn`t resist sharing this! <3<3<3<3

MJ References In "Beat It"

Okay, People...

So in his last blog post , Pete mentioned that there were no less than 25 subtle references to the one and only Michael Jackson in the new video for "Beat It", along with connections to "Arms Race" and "The Takeover".

It`s pretty obvious that the aspect of the video being a dream, or more specifically, Pete`s dream, is the FOB connection...But I think it would be fun to pick out some of the MJ reference sightings.

What do you guys think?

Have you all been to `Trick`s website lately?

Not ONLY is there a brand-new post about being snubbed by Scarlett Johansson (Poor Patrick!)...

But you can also check out some amazing new audio of him playing a cover of  "Tom Traubert`s Blues" by Tom Waits.

Trust me: If you haven`t been there yet, your ears will certainly thank you!

Idolator.Com Article: Is "Beat It" The Best Rock Song Of 2008?

As already noted, the top debut on the Billboard's singles chart this week was "Beat It," Fall Out Boy and John Mayer's energetic cover of the Michael Jackson megahit. It may be a bit premature to declare this the best rock song of the year, but "Beat It"—and its success—could signify several promising developments for the state of rock.

• If Guitar Hero has inspired Fall Out Boy and John Mayer to rock hard and fast, imagine what it will do to musicians who already kind of do?

• Emo kids already dress hair-metal; this cover may inspire them to play it.

• Fall Out Boy now has three hits that aren't ballads. Perhaps established rock bands will realize there is actual commercial potential for songs that aren't slow, turgid, or any other quality we associate with Nickelback.

• This song's success might keep Fall Out Boy from putting out so many damn ballads themselves.

• Patrick Stump can sing pretty well, and he avoids that anonymous, butt-cleching nasal tone we associate with most emo acts. Hell, in the world of emo this kid is Teddy Pendergrass or something.

• The return of the instrumental solo to pop music. Today the guitar, tomorrow the saxophone!
